The proposed work consists of the following: furnishing and placing new water mains, water services and laterals, water meters, digital registers, Smartpoint M2 Radio Transceivers (MXUs), water meter boxes and lids, blow off assemblies, air release valves, water valves, fire hydrant assemblies, electrical grounding rod assemblies and all related components necessary to complete the work as specified in the plans. Additional work includes abandoning existing backyard and front yard water mains, water services, and all related components necessary to complete the work as specified in the plans and these specifications. Salvaged items shall be returned to the City of West Sacramento Corporation Yard. In addition, the work shall include the replacement of any pavement, concrete sidewalk, concrete curb and gutter, concrete driveway, concrete valley gutter, and public or private landscaping and irrigation removed or damaged as a consequence of the execution of this Contract, as well as traffic stripes, pavement markings, and all necessary traffic control. Contractor should anticipate the dewatering of utility trenching during construction. WKA No. 13303.01P This project will replace approximately 11,000 feet of 8-inch and 12-inch existing water distribution pipe; approximately 8,000 feet within the Linden Acres west area and 3,000 feet within the Linden Acres east area Within the Linden Acres west area, there are 95 water service reconnections to existing front yard meters, Within the Linden Acres east area, backyard water mains and 97 backyard service are to be abandoned. New front yard meters and service line installations (main to meter and meter to house) will be required. Several of these service lines are long and will require multiple boring setups. There are 9 distribution tie-ins to the existing water distribution system within the entire project area. Several are to an existing 16-inch AC pipe that will require careful planning and coordination. There are 22 fire hydrant installations; several that will require the removal and abandonment of an existing fire hydrant.
