This project involves removing and disposing a pipe culvert crossing consisting of 4 concrete pipes installed side by side and replacing it with an owner-supplied aluminum box culvert with wing walls, resurfacing of the gravel road, minor stream realignment, and in-stream improvements. Proposals must be accompanied by a certified check, bid bond, bank cashier's check, or trust company treasurer's check in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the bid, made payable to the Borough of Berwick. The successful bidder shall be expected to execute and file the proposed contract and to furnish and pay for Performance, Payment and other Bonds in the amount of 100% of the contract price as security for the performance of the contract and payment of all costs thereof within ten days after the award of the contract. If the Bidder shall fail or refuse to enter into the contract after given the award, the proceeds of the check deposited by him shall be used as liquidated damages by the Borough of Berwick for his failure or refusal to comply. All bidders/offerors are hereby notified that all work under this contract is governed by the labor standards and wage determination decision issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry and are included in the Contract Documents. The Borough of Berwick reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and informalities in any bid, for the best interests of the Borough. Bids may be held by the Owner for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days from the date of opening bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of bidders prior to awarding the contract.
