As of February 3, 2022, this project is in the conceptual phase. An architect has not been selected. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is expected to start April 2023. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project will upgrade the existing radio system at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute (WMHI) and the Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC). This project provides for a new communications shelter and tower to support that equipment and provides additional equipment and infrastructure to bring the radio system to its full capacity and function for long-term use. The project includes new head-end equipment and portable radios. Equipment additions will be procured through state contract purchases. Electrical power and communications links from the new shelter to existing resources are also included to tie the new radio system into the Wisconsin Interoperable System for Communications (WISCOM). A new microwave connection to the nearest WISCOM tower will be built to support mobile communication, remote diagnostics, and system updates. The infrastructure and central equipment will also support Department of Corrections (DOC) radio service at the Drug Abuse Corrections Center (DACC), located at the site. DOC equipment and services are being procured under a separate project. Design services will include infrastructure design and handling of the necessary permitting, environmental assessment, archaeological study and surveys as required to locate the new tower and shelter.
