The Bernalillo County Sheriff Office BCSO has a need to locate a substation on the north side of the county between Eubank Boulevard Northeastand Tramway Boulevard Northeast. The area to be served by this facility is shown in the image below. A physical substation in the area will make it possible for BCSO to maintain a continuous presence in the area, yielding faster response times in the community. Additionally, the 7,000 square foot substation will host community stakeholders, such as search and rescue organizations and neighborhood associations. Bernalillo County has identified at least two potential locations. The first is property owned by the county at the northeast corner of Eubank Boulevard Northeast and Paseo Del Norte Northeast see image below. A sizable portion of the property is encumbered by New Mexico Department of Transportation NMDOT right of way. The right of way is no longer needed, and the county is working with NMDOT to vacate the right of way so the county can construct the facility. If NMDOT is unwilling or unable to vacate its right of way, the county will purchase a nearby property. The location under consideration is adjacent to a Bernalillo County Fire Station at 11700 Paseo del Norte NE. As of January 22, 2022 , This project is in included in the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration FY 2023-2027 Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
