Site work and new construction of a day care center in Shiprock, New Mexico. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a day care center; and for site work for a day care center.

To plan, design, and construct two room headstart facility (2,500 SF, traditional wood frame building). Phase I consisted of the legal land withdrawal, and archaeological inventory. Phase II includes environmental assessment, planning and design will be completed within 16 months. Construction will be divided into two phases (Phase III and IV) and will be completed in 24 months. Some of the tasks will be concurrent. The Chapter will work with Navajo Nation Design and Engineering Service as the lead agency. The Red Valley will own and maintain the building, Navajo Head Start will operate the building under an MOU and Navajo Nation will be the Fiscal Agent for the project. As of January 27, 2022, this project is currently in the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration FY 2023-2027 CIP. Information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is not expected to start prior to fiscal year 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
