Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Gunnison, Colorado. Conceptual plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; bridge / tunnel; bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and road / highway.
Gunnison County is seeking a qualified, experienced, and creative firm to provide consulting, public engagement, and trail design for the Crested Butte to Crested Butte South Multimodal Trail - aka the CB-CB South Trail. The goal of the project is to create a trail alignment and construction plan that can begin implementation within 12-18 months of plan completion. The Gunnison Valley is amid a transition that will define its future. Population is growing, recreation styles are evolving, and remote work is opening new possibilities for people who would otherwise not be able to carve out a living in the remote Rocky Mountains. But one thing that has not changed in over 30 years is the desire to construct a multimodal, non-motorized path that, among other benefits, provides a seasonal connection from Crested Butte South to the towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte and the rapidly growing communities in between. The CB-CB South Multimodal Trail Planning Project will propel the Gunnison Valley into an era of sustainable infrastructure, climate action, and healthy, vibrant lifestyles. Objective 1: Capture the desires, needs, and vision of the Gunnison County public for a multimodal trail from the Town of Crested Butte to Crested Butte South. Tasks: Gather data from existing plans and studies, solicit public input from stakeholder groups including ranchers and developers, and compile overall public feedback as appropriate. Deliverable: A final report that is informed by the Gunnison County public. Objective 2: Create design and engineering plans for the CB-CB South Multimodal Trail. Tasks: Coordinate with agencies and host internal project meetings, create conceptual design and alternatives, vet the project internally and/or with focus groups, present trail plan to the public to solicit feedback, outreach and meetings with private property owners. Deliverable: Creation of a trail construction plan, cost estimates, construction timeline, and conceptual drawings for the trail, including the potential for right-of-way acquisition for trail construction. Objective 3: Create an actionable plan for project implementation. Tasks: Inventory possible funding sources, donors, grant opportunities, and other funding streams, explore potential conservation easements. Deliverable: A preliminary cost estimate and construction schedule and a funding strategy contained within the final implementation plan that can be used in future fundraising efforts. Objective 4: Assess ecological impacts of trail construction. Tasks: Complete ecological assessments in coordination with Colorado Parks & Wildlife and other relevant agencies. Deliverable: An environmental assessment component to the action plan. The County will answer written questions from potential respondents in writing, no verbal responses shall be considered binding. All such questions and the County's answers thereto, will be provided to any potential respondent upon written request. Please email questions to: Joe Lavorini, Stewardship Coordinator jlavorini@nationalforests.org. Please allow 2-3 workdays for responses. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
