The Ministry of FLNRORD owns facilities at 100 Mile house for the operation of the 100 Mile House Fire Zone. The fire zone has outgrown its current facility size with extra IA crews and unit crew. The facilities have no space to accommodate them and are having to rent facilities for their seasonal operations. The parking space at the zone and office district is extremely limited with not enough space for crew trucks. A property in particular has been identified as a potential building site for a new fire zone. It is yet unknown if the parcel has utility services available nearby. The Ministry is seeking to investigate the possible relocation of the Fire Zone at the new parcel in order to provide sufficient workspaces and parking area for the current and projected staffing levels. The objective is to provide a new, efficient, cohesive working environment for the BCWS staff at the 100 Mile House Fire Zone. The proposed solution is the construction of a new building that will consolidate several of existing building activities and provide a better and more effective workspace. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this time.
