Ontario Municipal Utilities Company (OMUC) is seeking professional services from a qualified firm to provide a fee proposal for the design of a treatment facility for Well No. 50. OMUC Engineering and Water Operations staff identified Well No. 50 as a critical well in order to maintain a reliable source of potable water to the City. The project will consist of the design of one treatment facility to treat water from Well No. 50. Well No. 50 is located at 3900 East Riverside Dr. See attached vicinity map, location map, and site map in Exhibit "A", Figures 1a, 1b, and 1c. Well No. 50 was equipped in 2008. The well was placed into use in 2011 and 2012 but was taken out of services due to water quality issues relating to the presence of perchlorates. Well No. 50 has a rated design capacity of 3,000 gpm at a rated head of 500 ft. The project will consist of an ion exchange treatment facility for Well No. 50. It is envisioned that the facility will be installed on a raised slab with on-site sodium hypochlorite generation system, mechanical piping, electrical, HVAC, and instrumentation. The existing 12-inch pump discharge pipe is currently connected to a 12-inch pipe in Riverside Drive which is in pressure zone 1010. It is the intention of the OMUC Engineering and Water Operations staff to dedicate the Well 50 discharge pipe to Pressure Zone 925. This can be accomplished by a combination of valve arrangements and tying the 12-inch pipe in Riverside Drive into an existing 30-inch pipe in Pressure Zone 925 just east of the Pressure Reducing Valve #18 (PRV #18). The scope of the consultant's work will include analysis of pressure zone conditions with recommendations and engineering design for the same. Consultant will prepare a complete plans and specifications construction package, including project construction schedule and probable construction cost.
