The City of Long Beach (City) is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide Electrical Switchgear services for the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine. It is imperative to establish a power source capable of providing sufficient power to the building(s) due to loss of power. This will allow the operation of the trailer generators (purchased with UASI funding) in a safe manner to provide air conditioning, lighting, and other necessary functions to operate a Mass Care Shelter site, including the use of the pool showers (building next to the community centers). PRM is tasked with utilizing community centers and gyms as Mass Care Shelter sites during emergency situations. It is therefore imperative to provide electricity in order to power the buildings, including HVAC, during emergency/sheltering situations. It is imperative to establish a power source capable of providing sufficient power to the building due to loss of power. This will allow the operation of the trailer generators (purchased with UASI funding) in a safe manner to provide air conditioning, lighting, and other necessary functions to operate a Mass Care Shelter site. In addition, this project will allow for the use of the pool showers (building next to the community centers). The Contractor must also coordinate with proper agencies and departments to schedule the shut-down of power, installation of the electrical equipment and the reenergizing of power.
