Renovation of a mixed-use development in Raleigh, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility; and laboratory facility.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This multi-phased renovation to North Carolina State University's Polk Hall building aims to address program and facility needs and prepare for coordination with the new neighboring Integrated Sciences building. This renovation includes modernization of labs, office, and other core building facilities and programmatic needs. Architectural scope will include a portion of the ground floor, 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor labs, offices, and circulation spaces, as well as upgrades to the roof, envelope, and exterior, including window replacement. In the Northwest section of the building MEP/FP work will span the entirety of the building. A key focus will be placed on the Northwest section of the building, including work on the roof, ground and third floor spaces, and will include lab upgrades to Biochemistry and Animal Science spaces on both Microbiology, the ground and third floor, and Animal Science labs. Scope on the third floor will include removal and abatement of existing flooring, removal of existing mobile casework, removal of old/outdated laboratory systems, selective demolition, finishes, doors and hardware, and fume hood. Selective removal and replacement of outdated MEP/FP systems will happen throughout the building requiring new ceilings and rework of items located in those ceilings, including new mech shafts and electrical raceways. Phasing of this project is required in order to allow lab work to continue in other areas of the building while certain labs are being refurbished. The project team will finish an area in its entirety to allow the owner to move in from another area, which will then be refurbished as well. We will work our way through the building in this fashion throughout the duration of the project. The MWBE goal for this project is 20%. The Construction Manager and Owner reserve the right to reject any and all bids. For more information contact Lauren Ashley (lauren.ashley@flblum.com or 336.816.9328)
