Barkley Dam, Spillway Gates Mechanical and Electrical Rehab Barkley Dam has twelve spillway gates and each gate has mechanical equipment powered by electrical distribution control systems to raise and lower the gate. Replacement of both the mechanical and electrical systems is necessary as many components are original to the construction of the dam c.1966. Electrical design engineering will develop plans and specifications for the electrical distribution system on the spillway control gates. Mechanical design engineering will develop plans and specifications for replacement of the mechanical systems, with attention to the limitation of only being able to replace one spillway gate system at a time, leaving the remainder operating for flood control missions.
