The work includes the removal of +/- 36 windows/frames from large openings (11' x 6') and +/- 18 windows/frames from smaller openings. The Asbestos Abatement Contractor will be assigned to the Window Installer/General Contractor as far as coordinating prop work, removal, and closure of openings is considered. The tentative last day of school is May 13th, so work may start on or about May 16, 2022 if jointly agreed to by the School's Architect and Owner. Bid bonds are required, and bidders shall not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, creed, or national origin. The Asbestos Abatement Contractor will be under contract with the District, and be paid by same. Not less than the prevailing hourly wage, as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor for Edgar County, shall be paid for any part of the work. The successful Bidder shall furnish a Performance Bond and a Labor & Material Payment Bond each in an amount equal to 100% of the contract price. Bonds shall be filed with the School District prior to the successful contractor being issued a Notice to Proceed. The owner reserves the right to waive technicalities or to reject any or all bids. The awarded bid will be accepted under consideration of the School Board. Acceptance will be based on the lowest responsible bidder. The construction period will commence with the date of Notice of Award and shall be substantially complete within 60 consecutive calendar days thereafter.
