Renovation of a residential development in Suffolk, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a residential development.
The City of Suffolk desires to cause the renovation and re-use of 307 East Washington Street building for commercial and/or residential uses. The City has assembled a redevelopment opportunity site(s) along East Washington Street near the Phoenix Bank Block and along Culloden Street. This site lies within the community known as the Fairgrounds. This site could help to catalyze new activity in the eastern half of downtown. Apartments across the street at the Lofts at Eastpoint have been successful at achieving market rents and have proven there is a market in this part of downtown. Additionally, the Fairgrounds redevelopment of nearby single family housing has also helped to stabilize and catalyze this sites redevelopment.
