Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Helena, Montana. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
The Architecture & Engineering Division and the Montana Law Enforcement Academy are seeking an architectural consultant for a new scenario building to be located at the academy in Helena, MT. Montana s changing weather conditions pose challenges for MLEA training staff attempting to realistically replicate day-to-day law enforcement encounters students may face. A new climate controlled scenario building, approximately 10,000 square feet, will provide a consistent environment for training and preparing students for duty when they return to their agencies and communities. The MLEA scenario building will be a climate-controlled indoor training environment featuring a full-sized city street complete with curbs and sidewalks. Building facades representative of typical businesses and residences found in any police agency s jurisdiction will flank both sides of the street, complete with furniture and other items including vehicles. Training staff will be able to realistically replicate business and residential situational training scenarios, from dispatch to resolution, in a fluid manner without exposing staff and students to extreme weather conditions or class restrictions/rescheduling due to inclement weather.
