Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Homer, Alaska. Conceptual plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

This project provides for the design and construction of Fairview Avenue from Main Street to East End Road. The road is approximately 3,000 linear feet and the project will include paving, water and sewer mains, stub-outs, storm drains, and a sidewalk or trail. The project extends from the intersection of Main Street to the Homer High School, and finally to East End Road, and will provide an alternative to Pioneer Avenue for collector street access east/west across town. This roadway would benefit the entire community by reducing congestion on Pioneer Avenue, the major throughtown road, and would provide a second means of access to the high school. It would also allow for development of areas not currently serviced by municipal water and sewer. This improvement is recommended by the 2005 Homer Area Transportation Plan. Necessary right of way has already been dedicated by the Kenai Peninsula Borough across the High School property. The project is included in the City of Homer's 2024-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As July 3, 2024, information regarding a design firm and the general contractor selection timeline has not been disclosed.
