The NHDES Dam Bureau is responsible for the maintenance, repair and reconstruction of 278 dams located throughout the State of New Hampshire. It should be noted that several of the dams owned by the State of New Hampshire extend into the State of Maine as well. The Engineering and Construction Section of the Dam Bureau consists of engineers, surveyors and a nine person heavy construction crew. The Dam Bureau has recognized the need to have as needed contracts for professional engineering and technical support services for a range of anticipated evaluations and projects, as well as providing a resource for unforeseen situations that may arise.
