Site work and new construction of a laboratory facility in Hilo, Hawaii. Completed plans call for the construction of a 3,600-square-foot laboratory facility; and for site work for a laboratory facility.
This is the solicitation for the Construct Cooperative Science Center for the Mauna Loa Atmospheric Baseline Observator (MLO) site, Hawaii. The project will include: 1. Demolition and disposal of the old building and supporting infrastructure (decks, walkways, power lines, obsolete concrete pads, etc.) located at the proposed site for the new Cooperative Science Center. Buildings to be removed include the: a. Ground Winds Building b. Uchida Building c. AEC Building d. Schnell Building 2. A new, energy-efficient ~3,600 gross square foot (gsf) facility to support up to eight cooperative science partner rooms that each include modern laboratory facilities for data collection, air sampling, and analysis. Support spaces such as a conference room with kitchenette support, a mechanical room, and a loading bay/workshop area for equipment unloading and repair, are also required. A water tank holding area (exterior primary and interior secondary) and an indoor bathroom facility are required. 3. Providing static dissipation system - ground bars in each room tied to panel. 4. A roof deck ( ~1,400 sq.ft.) with access to roof-mounted equipment for study of solar radiation, and other research and equipment related to climate monitoring, is required.
