The Community Health and Safety Center will be incorporated into a new Fire Station 2 and aims to increase preventative services and prepare the city for current and future public health crises and emergencies. The center will house fire prevention and inspection services, fire suppression, Advanced Life Support ambulance care, emergency management, public health, restaurant and swimming pool inspections, rental housing licensing and inspections and recycling and organics collection services. The selected firm will work with the Community Health and Safety Center Project Team which will be comprised of City staff and stakeholders, an Owners Representative, and an Architect / Engineering firm to provide preconstruction and construction services including cost and schedule estimating, bidding, and day-to-day construction management for a new ground up facility at 4401 West 76th Street, Edina MN. This process will utilize all public bidding requirements. Design is looking to wrap up Fall 2023 with bid packages Fall 2023 into early winter. Construction is estimated to start Spring 2024 with an anticipated 12–16-month construction schedule.
