Over the past six years, the City of Melville has been working diligently with a variety of stakeholders to develop a long-term solution for its existing landfill. This project will allow for continued operations that meet the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment's requirements. This project provides an environmentally responsible, sustainable solution for solid waste management for the City of Melville and surrounding communities well into the future. The key features of the development include: - A clay liner - Leachate collection system with lined collection pond - Scale and guardhouse - Equipment Storage Building - Asbestos storage - Public drop-off for refuse and recyclable materials, including an agriculture recycling area - Composing area for residential waste with the ability to expand composting to accommodate agriculture-based waste. - - Roadway development Levelling of existing site The CIty of Melville is looking forward to working with a qualified contractor to complete this work with as much enthusiasm that the City has to see this project be successful.
