Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The kinds and approximate quantities of the major items of work include: 275 C.Y. of Excavation Class 10 Roadway & Borrow; 250 C.Y. of Modified Subbase; 1280 S.Y. of Engineering Fabric; 1500 S.Y. of PCC Pavement & Driveway Removal; 1280 S.Y. of 6 IN. thick fully reinforced PCC Street Paving; 220 S.Y. of Driveway. P.C. Concrete, 6 IN; 760 L.F. of 4" Longitudinal Subdrain including Porous Granular Bedding & Backfill; and associated work as normally found in a street paving improvement project. All work is to be done in compliance with the drawings and specifications prepared by Warner Engineering Associates Inc., Mount Pleasant, Iowa which are now on file for public examination at the ENGINEERS office and the City Clerk's office in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the ENGINEER and accompanied by a bidder's bond with corporate surety satisfactory to the governing body, a check drawn on and certified by an Iowa bank or a U.S. chartered bank, or a certified share draft drawn on an Iowa credit union, and filed in a sealed envelope separate from the one containing the bid and in an amount at least equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City of Mount Pleasant, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and may be cashed by the City of Mount Pleasant, Mount Pleasant, Iowa as liquidated damages in the event the successful Bidder fails to enter into a contract within ten (10) days after award of the Contract and post bond satisfactory to the City of Mount Pleasant insuring the faithful performance of the Contract. The bid security of the lowest three Bidders may be retained for a period of not to exceed sixty (60) days until a contract is awarded or rejection made. Other bonds or checks shall be returned after a tabulation of bids is completed. Payment to the Contractor for completed work will be made by the City of Mount Pleasant; in cash from such funds as may be legally used for said purposes. Payment to the Contractor shall be made on estimates twice monthly equivalent to ninety-five percent (95%) of the Contract value of the work completed during the preceding calendar month. It will be the Bidder's sole responsibility to verify that they have examined all if any addendums to this project prior to bidding. No fee is required to obtain one set of the Contract Documents. A contract will be awarded for all the work, to the single successful bidder complying with this Notice and the Instructions to Bidders. The City Council reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities. By virtue of statutory authority, preference shall be given products and provisions grown and coal produced by the State of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor to the extent lawfully required by Iowa Statutes, providing that the award of the Contract will be to the lowest responsible bidder complying with this Notice and the instructions to Bidders. The City of Mount Pleasant reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities and irregularities. Published by order of the City Council of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
