The Town of Crested Butte's Rec Path Bridge River Access Project will marry recreational access with stewardship in the Town's public access easement area along the Slate River. Recreation on the Slate has increased substantially over the past 5-10 years causing concerns about resource protection, private property rights, wildlife impacts, and equitable access. This project was identified as a necessary infrastructure improvement to help relieve the stressors presented by increased river recreational use. The project components include: 1. ADA access to the Slate River via a concrete trail with adjacent stone slab steps and boat slide; 2. Riverbank stabilization with boulders, plantings, and grading; 3. Wetland restoration and decommissioning of user-created trails through planting of seeds, plants, and plugs; 5. Enhanced access to the Slate via a crusher fines trail throughout the site; 6. Private property protection through the installation of a wooden fence. This project will help to protect the Slate River riparian corridor adjacent to the Crested Butte to Mt. Crested Butte Rec Path Bridge from the impacts of recreation in a location that is heavily utilized by community members and visitors alike. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to accept bids other than the lowest, and to waive any informalities and irregularities therein. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Labor and Material Payment Bond, both in the amount of 100% of the total contract amount, in conformity with the requirements of the Contract Documents and on forms as provided by the Town.
