Renovation of an educational facility in San Jose, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Work will include furnishing all labor, supervision, materials, equipment and incidentals which are necessary to perform the following tasks: Site Improvements - Alterations to the staff parking area, various utility alterations and additions, fencing alterations, and new stormwater control features with associated landscaping. Building A - Offices: Base Bid: Fire alarm replacement throughout building. Bid Alternate: Interior remodeling of dispatch office and two storerooms, and associated work in breakroom and to the building path of travel. Interior finishing and related construction including interior partitions and doors; new fire-protection elements, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work. Building B - Maintenance Training: Fire alarm replacement. Building C - Repair Shops: Demolition of existing canopy. Addition of 1-story area for two repair bays for articulated buses. Interior remodeling of shop and storage areas. New steel framing system with shallow foundations; CMU base wall with ribbed metal siding exterior with steel framing backup, unit skylights, and ribbed metal roof; industrial equipment; and plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work. Interior finishing and related construction including interior partitions and doors; fire suppression elements and interconnection to existing system, and plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work. Fire alarm replacement. Building D - Vault: Fire alarm replacement. Building E1 - Fuel Island: Fire alarm replacement. Building E2 - Tire Shop: 1-story canopy with enclosed area for new tire shop storage added to existing 1-story bus wash canopy. New steel framing system on shallow foundations; CMU base wall with ribbed metal siding exterior with steel framing backup, unit skylights, and ribbed metal roof; industrial equipment, and plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work. Installation of salvaged furnishings, fixtures, and equipment as indicated. Building F - Steam Clean Bay: New lift, supporting concrete slab; and associated plumbing and electrical work. Interior cleaning as needed to facilitate new work. Remove & Replace complete Fire Alarm System in Buildings A, B, C, D & E1. VTA currently operates a fleet of forty 2002 Flyer artics (60' buses) and twenty-nine 2014 Flyer artics. These artic buses are located at the VTA's North Coach Division in the City of Mountain View. There are 7 BRT bus maintenance/service bays, 1 paint booth bay, 1 repair bay, 1 tire shop, 1 steam clean facility, 3 fuel/lube bays and 1 bus wash facility and other ancillary staff support services to support the service and repair of these BRT buses at the North Coach Division. VTA's Chaboya Coach Division was commissioned in 1981 and was not designed to service and maintain articulated buses. Currently the Chaboya yard operates a fleet of twenty-nine 30' buses, thirteen 35' buses, one hundred and forty-three 40' training buses, and 16 training buses. One of the current fleets of training buses at Chaboya Coach Division is a 60' bus. This Division also accommodates a fleet of 11 non-revenue vehicles along with 299 staff/visitor car parking spaces. There are 6 main facilities to support the service/repair/training needs for the current fleet of buses at Chaboya. These include the following (also refer to the attached Chaboya Coach Division Overall Site Plan exhibit, dated July 27, 2018). o Bus Operations staff building. This building accommodates bus operations staff locker/toilets/dispatch/offices/classrooms/dispatch/break room etc. A total of 299 staff car parking stalls are available adjacent to the bus operation staff building. o Maintenance Training building. This building has a bus training bay, space for training boards/equipment/parts/manuals and staff offices. o Fuel/Lube building, with 4 fuel/lube bays. o Bus Wash building, with 2 bus wash bays. o Steam Clean & Wastewater Treatment building. Steam Clean building provides one steam clean bays with trench access to the underside of the buses. Wastewater treatment building is located adjacent to the steam clean building. o Bus Maintenance building. The building currently accommodates 11 maintenance bays, parts storage, 2 inspection bays, Tire Shop, Exercise/break room, staff toilets & offices and upholstery shop. This building currently has the largest footprint of any facility on the Chaboya Coach Division. VTA has proposed to add 24 articulated buses at the Chaboya Yard. Under this RFP, improvements have to be made to the existing facilities & maintenance infrastructure to support storage and maintenance for these 24 articulated buses. The estimated time for construction of the Project is 550 calendar days. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
