The work involves trail work and boardwalk demolition and construction at the site. Trail Work The work involves capping a 226 metre (740-foot) section of trail with gravel and installing a new culvert to improve drainage on a section of trail between the parking lot entrance and wooden boardwalk. The work includes the following: Site preparation (raking, leveling, compacting, crowning) 75mm base layer of 3/4 quarry crush Top dressing of 60-75mm of crusher dust Some of the rip rap surrounding the five existing culverts will require repositioning and securing along both sides of the trail. Additional material may be required. A new culvert must be installed on the north side of the pond. See Appendix A - Map of Area below. This work includes: 12" culvert cut 1 foot long than trail width Trail grade must be raised to match existing culvert crossings Culverts must be secured on each side with 6" - 12" rip rap; Estimated 1 cubic yard Installed at a slight angle to prevent sediment from being deposited Boardwalk Demolition and Construction The work includes the following: Dismantling and disposing of the 184 metre (605 ft.) long wooden boardwalk and wire mesh Must be disposed of at the contractor's expense New boardwalk must be expanded to 4 feet wide Three 8 foot long sections further expanded to 8 feet wide for passing lanes Passing lane locations will be flagged on the trail by staff No tree falling will be required Vegetation must be cleared in sections that are too narrow 6-foot long ramps must be installed at boardwalk entrance to accommodate mobility devices Cancelled - Plans to retender has not been determined.
