Replacing the 150th Ave culvert as described by the plans and scope of work discussed in the Special Provisions. This project includes replacing two 48 concrete culverts with an aluminum arch (box) culvert. With coordination with the Town of Balsam Lake, the road may be closed for up to a week during construction. Flows at this location are generally low and shallow. Silt screen and cofferdams will need to be installed and rearranged periodically during construction phasing. In preparation for installation, the area for culvert placement must be slightly over-excavated for placement of the open graded base. Any removed materials may be placed on the roadway, but must be protected from eroding into the nearby waterway or wetlands. See the culvert installation sequence on page 3 of the plan set. Please note that the headwalls of the culvert may not be "standard" height on this model culvert. For this project, they should extend 3' above the arch to ultimately provide a safe flat recovery area for vehicles on top of the culvert. The contractor will be responsible for culvert assembly. Contractor should refer to the product manual for proper assembly, but a staff member from Contech will be periodically available on site for guidance. The contractor shall coordinate with the staff member as necessary. An optional pre-bid meeting will be held at the project site on April 12, 2022, at 10:00 am. The project engineer will be present to answer questions and tour the project site. Attendees must pre-arrange attendance with Dan Mortensen of Cooper Engineering prior to April 11th.
