Box 400202 Charlottesville, VA 22904-4202 Attention: John Gerding Phone: 434-982-2563 Email: jeg5y@virginia.edu The University and its Department of Capital Construction & Renovations (the University) seek a qualified firm to fabricate and install replacement stones for an existing large-scale marble bench. The qualified firm will demonstrate significant experience carving large-scale architectural stone and installing in an urban setting where security and safety of the public and work crew is paramount. Please provide references showing exemplary previous experience in architectural stone carving and installation. The successful firm will: o Perform all work detailed in Whispering Wall Stone Replacement Construction Documents (CD), found in the link below, unless noted that the University is providing, this includes these major elements but is not limited to: o Select suitable replacement stone meeting specifications in CD. o Provide stone samples for review by Architect and the University. o Provide stone shop drawing submittal for review by for review by the University. o Provide all necessary equipment and material to safely fabricate and install replacement stones as indicated on CDs. o Protect existing stone elements to remain from damage during installation of new stone. o Provide transportation of existing marble from the University to fabrication shop (if required), transport granite from quarry to shop, and transport finished carved granite to final location on grounds. o Recycle demolished marble upon completion of the project. The University will provide: o Fencing/security o Selective removal/demolition of existing marble pieces to be replaced as detailed in Construction Documents, spec section 024297 Selective Removals on Sheet G101, and Sheets D100 and D200. o Final pointing, including repointing of existing marble to remain.
