Site work and new construction of a pre-engineered storage facility in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 450-square-foot, one-story above grade pre-engineered storage facility; and for site work for a pre-engineered storage facility.
The purpose of this project is to build a proper storage facility to house pesticides and fertilizer for use by the Parks department as part of their cultural practices and Pest Management Program. The current storage facility is too small. Some pesticides can not be stored below freezing and the current facility is not suitable for storing these chemicals. The proposed fertilizer storage building will increase operational efficiency for the RMWB by having a place to store fertilizer at above freezing temperatures. The new facility will have heat and proper ventilation to ensure storing the chemicals does not create a hazard and will not harm the chemicals. The new facility will be precast (concrete) construction and will be installed at the 155 MacAlpine Crescent Parks Maintenance Yard. The building is also to house Graffiti removal and related materials. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) requires a pre-engineered or pre-cast building to function as a fertilizer and graffiti chemical storage building to support the parks operations.
