Site work and paving for a road / highway in St Charles, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The St. Charles Park District reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or to accept any proposals which, in its judgment, will be to the best interest of the public. Only bids in compliance with the provisions of the specifications will be considered. The Contractor shall furnish and place construction layout stakes for this project. The Contractor shall provide field forces, equipment, and material to set all stakes for this project, which are needed to establish offset stakes, reference points, and any other horizontal or vertical controls, including supplementary benchmarks, necessary to secure a correct layout for the roadway portion of the work. Stakes for line and grade of pavement shall be set at sufficient station intervals (not to exceed 50 ft (15 m)) to assure substantial conformance to plan line and grade. The Contractor will not be required to set additional stakes to locate a utility line which is not included as a pay item in the contract nor to determine property lines between private properties. Any inspection or checking of the Contractor's layout by the Engineer and the acceptance of all or any part of it shall not relieve the Contractor of his/her responsibility to secure the proper dimensions, grades, and elevations of the several parts of the work. The Contractor shall exercise care in the preservation of stakes and benchmarks and shall have them reset when any are damaged, lost, displaced, removed, or otherwise obliterated.
