Renovation of a military facility in New Orleans, Louisiana. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a military facility.
Renovations, Hufft Hall, Jackson Barracks, New Orleans, Louisiana, Project No. LA22-A-042. This project consists of interior repairs and renovations to Hufft Hall at Jackson Barracks. Hufft Hall is a historic 1891 era two-story billeting facility of approximately 5,700 s.f. interior space with exterior balconies. The existing exterior skin of the building and openings are to remain unchanged. This project will provide new interior finishes to the four units in the front of the building and rework the rear 16 single units with shared restrooms into eight single suites, each with sleeping area, living area, warming kitchen and latrine with shower. The project will also include, but is not limited to, MEP systems, repairs to existing exterior openings, utility relocations and new walkways. Designer shall be responsible for all associated nvironmental remediation including arranging for sample testing of suspect hazardous materials and making determinations regarding extent of required environmental remediation required to facilitate the renovations. Should suspect asbestos containing items require abatement to accomplish the project, the Designers contract may be amended to include testing, abatement design and/or air monitoring at the owners discretion. Designer is to involve the Louisiana State Historic Preservation Office for reviews and approvals as required. The funds Available for Construction (AFC) are approximately $775,000.00 with a Designers fee of approximately $65,827.00. At this time, approximately $42,787.00 is available for complete Title 1 services and the $23,040.00 balance for Title II may be awarded by amendment to Designers contract, subject to the availability of funding. The Designer shall prepare and submit all required drawings to the Military in AutoCAD and hard copy. Drawings shall follow the format specified in the Instructions to Designers for AutoCAD Drawings Submittal. Contract design time is 120 consecutive calendar days; including 40 days review time. Thereafter, liquidated damages in the amount of $150.00 per day will be assessed. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
