PURPOSE: The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as "VDOT") is soliciting bids from qualified firms to provide biannual equipment inspections/preventative maintenance and "on call" repair services for asphalt tanks and components owned by VDOT, within the Salem District, in accordance with the specifications, terms and conditions contained in this Invitation for Bid (IFB). Contract Period: The initial contract term shall be one (1) year, with the start date to be determined at the time of the award. (renewable) QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS INVITATION FOR BID: Any questions regarding this invitation for bid shall be addressed to Shonda Fowler at shonda.fowler@vdot.virginia.gov . The issuing office shall determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions or other matters raised. Questions Should Be Received By 4:30p.m. on May 2, 2022. SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, skilled technical support, supervision, equipment, tools, materials, vehicles, fuel, travel, supplies and incidentals necessary to perform biannual inspections and preventative maintenance of liquid asphalt storage tanks and to perform "on-call" repairs to keep them in good working order. All storage tanks are of similar make and model. The tanks are designed to hold CRS II oil in the Spring and CMS II oil in the Fall. The asphalt storage tanks are located in Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Henry, Patrick and Pulaski Counties. (Reference Attachment E - Asphalt Storage Tank Locations). VDOT may during the contract period, add, or remove tanks, at its discretion.
