Bids were opened May 18 and exceeded the $670,000 authorization. Based on the roof condition and the need to not impact the Hobart Arena operation, an authorization of $800,000 was requested . This would allow a contract to be awarded to the low bidder. RECOMMENDATION: (To be read at Council meeting) It is the recommendation of this Committee that legislation be prepared increasing the authorization for the Hobart Arena Roof Replacement Project to $800,000. So that a contract can be awarded without delay, this committee supports emergency legislation. __________________________________________________________ Engineers Estimate - $646,000 This project consists of the replacement of the barrel roof, the roof over the compressor/boiler room, and the west side roof. All Contractors and Subcontractors involved with the project will, to the extent practical, use Ohio products, materials, services, and labor in the implementation of this project. Bidders must comply with the prevailing wage rates on Public Improvements in Miami County and the City of Troy, Ohio as determined by the Ohio Department of Industrial Relations. A certified check, a cashiers' check, an Official Bank Check, or a letter of credit in the amount of 10% of the bid amount, payable to the City of Troy, Ohio. The City of Troy reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any irregularities in the bids when to the advantage of the City and to select the best bid in its opinion.
