Milestone Union - Site-building Improvements Location- 1622 Union Ave Bakersfield, CA 93305 This project consists of supplying all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for the Site-Building Improvements at the Milestone Union development. The work is primarily in the interior of 79 units. Contractor shall field verify all existing conditions and quantities as necessary to complete the work. No bid will be accepted from a contractor who has not registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). No contractor orsubcontractormaywork on a public works project unless registered with DIR. All Contractors/Subcontractors will be responsible for submitting electronic certified payroll reports directly to the Labor Commissioner (Division of Labor Standards Enforcement). Each bid must be accompanied by a certified cashier's check or bidder's bond payable to Housing Authority of the County of Kern for an amount not less than five (5%) of the bid price. The work to be done is being financed by California Department of Housing & Community Development. Work performed under this contract is subject to the requirements of Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, as amended, 12 USC 1701u. Section 3 required that to the greatest extent feasible opportunitiesfor training and employment be given lower income residents ofthe project area and contractsfor work in connection with the project be awarded to business concerns, which are located in, or owned in substantial part by persons residing in the area of the project.
