Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Hastings, Florida. Completed plans call for the construction of a clubhouse / community center; library; for site work for a clubhouse / community center; and library.

As of August 28, 2024, this project has not yet been awarded. We are hoping to award this contract sometime in September/October. As of July 30, 2024, this project has been released for bidding and the bid date has been extended one week. The Cppunty's Construction Budget/ Estimate is $6,955,000.00. The purpose of the project is to construct a new branch library, community center, and HHS annex to serve Hastings and the rest of southwest SJC. The project addresses a deficiency in library services to these residents. The current facility, which was acquired by the County on March 1, 2018, provides maintenance and operating challenges. The need for this new branch was identified in the Master Plan for Libraries Update Through the Year 2020. A new branch will meet the needs of people of all ages in this southwest area of the County, while eliminating the escalating costs associated with an older, not well-maintained building, that was never designed to accommodate the needs of a busy public library. An initial layout of approx. 10,000sf will serve the Hastings area for the foreseeable future. Required trades include: earthwork, fencing, landscaping, cast-in-place & tilt-wall concrete, masonry, structural steel, ornamental metals, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, data/communications, audio/visual, electronic security, waterproofing, metal and single-ply roofing, metal wall panels, doors, frames & hardware, storefront, curtainwall, & glazing, folding grilles, drywall &metal stud framing, stucco, casework & millwork, painting & wall coverings, flooring, toilet accessories, signage, operable partitions, aluminum canopies, flagpoles, window treatments. Although a firm timeline has not been confirmed, construction is not expected to start prior to September 2024. Completion is anticipated to take 15 months.
