The Wheaton R-III School District is accepting bids for the following site excavation specifications. Site Excavation is for a 120' wide x 120' deep red iron building with additional 60' wide x 20' Lean-To. 1. Dimensions of pad will be 130' Long x 130' Wide with additional 70' x 20' area on West side. 2. Highest point of existing grade will be determined and 12" will be removed below grade, or until suitable material is reached. 3. Removed sod and dirt will be stacked at specified location beside construction area. 4. Once suitable material is reached, area will be proof rolled and test by a Licensed Engineer to achieve 95% compaction. 5. Excavation site will be brought back to grade with clean red clay*, compacted and tested in 8" lifts by a Licensed Engineer. Target compaction is 95%. 6. Once site is to grade, an additional 8" of clean red clay will be compacted and tested by a Licensed Engineer. Target compaction is 95%. 7. Final pad elevation will be 8" above previous determined grade. 8. Site will be graded to within 1" side to side and end to end. 9. Compaction testing is the responsibility of the excavation company. Test results from each compaction test must be given to owner as job progresses. Post Construction 1. Overbuilt pad will be cut back and sloped to existing terrain. 2. Suitable weed barrier or plastic will be laid extending 5' around building and covered with 4" of suitable white rock. 3. Previously removed black dirt will be placed as needed on remaining area, prepared suitably for owner to sow grass seed. Red clay used for fill will be provided by the Wheaton R-III School District. Contractor will be responsible for loading and hauling of red clay, and smoothing loading site. Red clay site will be within a 5 mile radius of building site. Contractor's bid will contain estimated yards or truck loads of fill needed. The dirt work must be completed by August 1, 2022. Wheaton R-III School District has the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
