The intent of this request is to engage the services of a company with design-build expertise to assist in the development of a pop-up retail village at Muskoka Wharf. One of the key actions to be undertaken, from the Muskoka Wharf Revitalization Plan, is the development of pop-up retail village that offers a location to vendors, on a semi-permanent basis, to develop their business. The intent of this RFP is to find a qualified supplier of the physical structure that the merchants will be housed in for a season. The parameters for the design are open ended, with room for creative submissions so long as the following guidelines are considered: 1. The concept submitted needs to be free standing, self contained and self sufficient without access to water or power but should be able to accept these utilities at a future date. 2. Concepts need to be able to withstand 4 seasons of weather and be supported on natural surfaces. 3. Individual concept structures will be required to house 1 or 2 businesses within their footprint so design needs to be adaptable. 4. The initial phases of this program may only require 3 - 5 units but could be expanded to 10 - 12 structures with future planning. 5. Structure needs to be able to allow for sales and customer interactions, but also be able to be secured at night. 6. Exterior finishes need to be vandalism resistant. 7. Structures will need to comply with the Ontario Building Code and should be consistent with the architectural esthetic of Muskoka Wharf. 8. Removable structures will be entertained, so long as they can be easily moved and stored without crane.
