Renovation of an educational facility in Danville, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Replace 300 ton Trane RTAA Chiller at Westwood Middle School, 300 Apollo Ave, Danville, VA. Direct all questions to Walter Lucas, Director of Construction, by email (wlucas @mail.dps.k12.va.us) no later than ten (10) business days before bid date (June 20, 2022). All questions and answers will be forwarded to all bidders. If the RFP is $50,000.00 or more a bid bond is required to be submitted with each bid document in an amount equal to 5 percent (5%) of the bid amount. The successful bidder will be required to provide a performance and payment bond in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount. A. State Registration: All contractors working on this project must be appropriately registered with the State Board for Contractors as a Class A contractor. B. Business License: The City of Danville requires all contractors to obtain a business license to operate within the city. This license is issued by the Commissioner of Revenue and must be maintained for the life of the contract or project. C. Prior to the issuance of the Notice to Proceed for this project, validation of all contractors' business license and contractor registration will be verified. The right is reserved to reject any and all proposals, and to waive any informality in RFPs. SCOPE of WORK The Danville Public School System is requesting a scope of work, load calculation and a cost proposal for all required electrical and piping modifications, labor and materials to design and replace a 300 ton Trane RTAA Chiller and primary inline pump located at Westwood Middle School, 300 Apollo Ave in the City of Danville. All work is to comply with current Virginia Statewide Building Codes. Chiller Requirements: o Contractor is to perform a load calculation on facility to ensure proper sizing of chiller. o Contractor is to pump down existing refrigerant and dispose of in accordance with Federal guidelines. o Treated water for entire system is to be drained and disposed in accordance with state and local laws. o Remove and dispose of existing chiller and primary inline pump. o Provide and install new chiller that is sized according to the load calculation. o New Chiller compressor is to use the newest type of refrigerant on market. o New Chiller controls are to be compatible and connected to existing Trane Tracer Ensemble System. o Provide and install new primary inline pump. o Fill chill water system with the proper type and amount of fluid. o Supply water treatment chemicals to new water necessary for proper operation. o New chiller is to be started up and set in accordance to manufacturers requirements. o Contractor is responsible for any alteration and modifications to existing piping and electrical
