Renovation of a detention facility in Abilene, Texas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is inviting bids to Add Electronic Water Controls - Robertson Unit in Abilene, Texas. This project consists of adding electronic water saving devices to approximately 1,840 toilet, lavatory and shower valves, and shall be installed and concealed in a manner which will prevent tampering. Additionally, approximately 192 porcelain sinks and toilets are to be replaced with stainless steel. All work shall be performed as shown in the construction plans prepared by the TDCJ Facilities Engineering Department. Contractor must provide evidence that demonstrates the contractor is qualified to satisfactorily perform the specified work and must have worked in this trade for at least five (5) years. The contractor shall submit written evidence to include a minimum of three (3) projects completed within the last ten (10) years of similar work, size and complexity to include the owner's name, telephone number, location, type of facility, construction cost and the date of completion with all bid proposals. Contractors are required to submit a HUB Subcontracting Plan as detailed in the Exhibit. Failure to submit a completed HUB Subcontracting Plan will result in the bid being rejected from further consideration. Contractor must be bondable and insurable at the levels required. All bid proposals must be accompanied by a Bid Deposit in the amount of 5% of greatest amount bid. Performance and Payment Bonds in the amount of 100% of the contract amount will be required upon award of a contract. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, and to waive any informality or irregularity. It is the Owner's intent to issue the Notice to Proceed at the Pre-Construction Meeting with the performance period to begin on the following day The Texas Department of Criminal Justice requires the Contractor to make a good faith effort to include Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB's) in at least 21.1% of the total value of this construction contract award. Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum wage rates prescribed in the Special Conditions must be paid on these projects.
