As of September 26, 2023, a design engineer has been selected. This project is in permitting. Permitting will be complete in about 2 years. It will be another 4 years after that, that this project will go out to bid. *The previous solicitation is listed below for reference Starting this year, and extending beyond as required, the Authority is planning to permit approximately 40 acres of new (and piggybacked) landfill cell area. This is known as Area F and the piggyback is essentially over what is completed Area C. The Project, however, also includes regrading of Area E, Cell 2, and additional piggybacking for Area E, Cell 3, so as to increase the permitted airspace in Area E. The Items for Consideration (Section 8 below) more fully explain these proposed changes. Additionally, allowing for the use of the ClosureTurf final cover system over Area E generally involves a permitted grading plan change with a re-evaluation of the post-closure stormwater control measures.
