Demolition, site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Charleston, South Carolina. Completed plans call for the demolition of a fire / police facility; and for the construction of a 46,162-square-foot, two-story above grade fire / police facility.

Project No: 1700005 P-3018 Brief Description of Work: This is a Design-Bid-Built project and entails the construction of a new approximately 46,162 SF, one and two-story Fire and Rescue Station at Charleston Air Force Base. Construction of the new facility will include; a steel floor and roof frame system with modified bitumen roof system and standing seam metal roof over the two entry points and, brick veneer/split-faced block exterior finish. Project includes fire detection/alarm systems, communications support for voice and data systems, fire suppression systems, pavements with curbs and gutters, landscaping, sidewalks, and flightline fencing. Interior spaces include but are not limited to; 7 double stacked apparatus bays, station officer's offices, fitness room, recreation and day rooms, single bed dorms, kitchen and dining area, laundry equipment, male and female restroom/locker rooms, dispatch center, equipment and general storage and other support spaces. The new Fire Crash Rescue Station will replace existing fire station Building #168 (approximately 20,495 sf). The new facility will be constructed on the same site. This project includes the demolition of the existing fire station and associated pavement and utilities as well as providing temporary swing space to support fire and rescue operations during demolition and construction phase. The temporary swing space will be located adjacent to Hangar 579 and entails a temporary structure of approximately 4,900 sf with offices, dorm room, combination dining/training/kitchen and day room, restrooms, laundry room and utility spaces. The fire and crash vehicles will be temporarily stationed in Hangar 579 until completion of the new facility. Once construction of the new fire and rescue station is complete and the facility is occupied, the temporary facilities will be removed under this project. Addendum #1-#2 (contains divisions 22 & 23 included in revised specs)have been issued as of 7-6-2022.
