Renovation of a municipal facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Work under this Contract covers: Interior alterations (including mechanical and electrical) for office area on level 1 of the SMD Building. This project involves renovating the level 1 West side of the SMD building adjacent to the Health Sciences Centre (HSC). The level one area for this renovation was a pharmacy/clinic space and office area. Intent is to renovate for new office space for staff relocating from the MacCharles Building at HSC and staff within the SMD Building. Program area includes 5 departments - Registry, Epidemiology EPI space, Health Services Research, Manitoba Tomorrow Project, and System Performance. The Scope of Work is comprised of 2 phases; Phase 1 will be the fit-up of the open office space for the Registry area (staff moving over from the MacCharles Building); Phase 2 will be the fit up of the rest of the South area and the fit up of the office area along the North wall. Access to the public corridor is to be maintained throughout the construction phases. The renovation is comprised of open office areas, enclosed offices, meeting room, kitchenette and washrooms. Total area is approximately 548 sq. m. (5,900 sq. ft.). The SMD building is located at 825 Sherbrook Street. The entirety of the existing level 1 of the SMD building is occupied. Direct access to the SMD building is available for material delivery and contractors will have to access the space from the South adjacent parking lot and a West entry vestibule along Sherbrook Street. An exterior garbage bin can be placed in the South parking lot, not to impede access to the building. Refer to 01 50 00 Temporary Facilities and Controls for interior lay down location. The building was originally constructed in 1963 and has been renovated since. The space was abated of any hazardous materials in the floor, walls, and ceilings. Noise and Infection Control Protocols are paramount. If work becomes noisy and interferes with occupants, the Owner reserves the right to stop work. The remainder of the building, 3 upper floors and the East side, is fully occupied with office functions.
