The mechanical contractor will act as the project general contractor. Bids will not be accepted from firms other than mechanical contractors. The scope of work period includes providing all labor, materials, machinery, tools, equipment, and other means of construction necessary for completion of the work indicated in the Bid Documents including, but not necessarily limited to, the following: selective demolition, replacement of existing hot water boilers, hydronic accessories, thermal storage tank, and all related pumps, hydronic piping, plumbing piping, insulation, heat exchangers, exhaust fans, gas piping, air intakes, flues, ductwork, drains, air separators, expansion tanks, variable frequency drives, electrical power, building automation controls, cutting & patching of interior finishes, removal & reinstallation of doors & frames, concrete equipment curbs, cutting and patching concrete masonry, cutting and patching concrete slabs, and cutting and patching roof penetrations & flashings. The work site is Mill Creek Elementary School, N900 Brundige Road, Geneva, IL 60134. The on-site construction is scheduled to commence during next years 2023 summer break starting approximately on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, with a Substantial Completion date of Friday, August 4, 2023. Liquidated damages apply to the Substantial Completion date It is anticipated that the contracts will be awarded by the Board of Education at their regular meeting on Monday, August 15, 2022. Required prequalification documentation must be submitted in Adobe PDF format to the Districts Architect via the email address listed above on or before 4:00 p.m. Central Time on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. A Bidders failure to submit the required prequalification documentation will be considered grounds for rejection of the Contractors bid. Each bid must be accompanied by a bid security in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the Base Bid. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish construction performance and labor and material payment bonds in the full amount of the final Contract Sum. The Contractor shall not pay less than the prevailing rates of wages to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics performing work under this contract, and shall comply with the requirements of the Illinois Wages of Employees on Public Works Act (820 ILCS 130/1-12). The Contractor will be required to submit electronic copies of their certified payrolls with each application for payment using the Illinois Department of Labors Prevailing Wage Portal. The Geneva Community Unit School District 304 Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, reject nonconforming bids, reject conditional bids, waive irregularities in the bidding procedures, or to accept any bid that, in its sole opinion, best serves the interests of the School District.
