Site work and paving for a civil project in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: Installation of 3575 linear feet of 24- inch trenched sanitary sewer gravity main, 4300 linear feet of 21-inch trenched sanitary sewer gravity main, and 80 linear feet of 21-inch trenchless sanitary sewer gravity main with a 30-inch steel casing along the centerline of a gravel road. An alternative bid includes the installation of 2570 linear feet of 18-inch trenched sanitary sewer gravity main. Both the base bid and the alternative bid require the existing road to be rebuilt to an equal or better condition. The project also includes the installation and maintenance of traffic control devices, such as detour signs, and related work as specified in the contract documents. Additionally, the preparation and management of a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and all necessary erosion control measures are part of the contract. The Base Bid or Base Bid and Alternate Bid will be awarded based on the City's discretion. Contractor must bid on the Base Bid and Alternate Bid. Doc Note - The plans and specifications are now on file in the office of the City Clerk. Copies thereof may be obtained at the office of the Public Works Department. One set of bidding documents for the above project is available without charge to prospective bidders, i.e. qualified general contractors. A $20.00 fee will apply to additional sets and to bidding documents requested by other than prospective bidders as defined herein. The City of Ames Public Works Department is the only authorized source of bidding documents and proposal forms. Bidding documents and proposal forms obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using bidding documents and/or proposal forms not obtained from the City of Ames Public Works Department are advised to contact the City of Ames Public Works Department to provide a contact name, mailing address, and phone number to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond is to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract, and shall guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City. The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) years for new paving. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award and approval of the contract and performance bond. Due to access availability of large equipment for farming operations, work requiring the closure of 550th Ave., 265th St., and Ken Maril Road shall occur outside the growing season. Work will be allowed during the following months: o January 1st 2025, to April 1st2025 o November 1st 2025, to April 1st 2026 2023-24 Ames Plan 2040 Sanitary Sewer Utility Infrastructure - Contact: Hafiz, abdelhafiz.Ibrahim@cityofames.org Substantial Completion of the project will be the April 1st 2026. All the pipe and structures shall be in place and the road template restored. o Project completion date will be December 18th 2026 Should the contractor fail to complete the work by this date, liquidated damages of $1,000 per calendar day will be assessed. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period.
