Renovation of a development in Port Burwell, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a development.

This Request for Proposal invites qualified companies to submit proposals for Replacing Siding at the Port Burwell Lighthouse located at 17 Robinson St. Port Burwell located within the Municipality of Bayham. The work provided may commence no earlier than September 12, 2022 and completed by December 12, 2022. The Port Burwell Lighthouse was constructed in 1840. It was part of a national network of light stations equipped with beacon lights to warn or guide ships at sea. The Port Burwell Lighthouse was used to aid navigation and commercial shipping of local timber on Lake Erie. For over 100 years the Sutherland family kept the Lighthouse, until it closed in 1962 when the Canadian Coast Guard began decommissioning light stations. In 1965, the Village of Port Burwell acquired the structure. It is the oldest wooden lighthouse on the Canadian shore of Lake Erie and one of the oldest surviving lights in Canada. The 45 ft. lighthouse was refurbished in 1986 by a local craftsmen which included wooden horizontal lap siding. - Contractor to include costing for disconnection and reconnection fees if applicable. - Remove all interior and exterior wire, conduit, and electrical/alarm panels as necessary to remove and replace siding. Reaffix all interior and exterior wiring, conduit, and electrical/alarm panels. - Removal and disposal of existing wooden siding and trim work. - Repair all foundation cracks with by grinding and injecting epoxy throughout the cracks. - Removal of existing door and frame and reinstall a new painted to match 36 inch fiberglass door (to be selected through contractor by the Municipality of Bayham). - Install (14) 8 inch wall vets around seven sides of the lighthouse. To be installed at the base of the lighthouse to replace the (14) 2 inch wall vents. - Supply and install 5/8 inch Tongue and Groove plywood on the entire exterior of the lighthouse. Interior side of plywood must be painted a minimum of two coats of white paint. - Cover all plywood with a minimum of one layer of polyolefin fabric (house wrap) and insure all joints have been sealed with barricade seam tape. - Supply and install Plank Hardie Board and trim to the entire exterior of the lighthouse. Color to be selected by the Municipality of Bayham Staff (white/red) before contractor orders material. - Install Plank Hardie Board and repaint top railing and roof steel and window portion of the cap of the lighthouse. Questions will be accepted and until Thursday, July 28th at 4:00 p.m. and responses provided by Tuesday, August 2nd.
