Renovation of an educational facility in Williamsville, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
NYS Vendor Responsibility Form CCA-2 A/B/C, NYSDOL wage rates, MBE/WBE, Apprenticeship program, and Local and Disadvantaged Workforce requirements may apply to this project. The asbestos abatement work shall include the following: 1. Properly remove and dispose of the window system components scheduled for removal on the 1958 wing with asbestos-containing window glazing compound, including interior and exterior caulks, window framing, sills, interior and exterior trim, glazing, and fasteners/hardware scheduled for removal. Dispose of where possible remove all window components intact without disturbing the glazing compound. Remove all caulk down to and from the adjacent brick facade. Dispose of all window components with adhering window glazing compound as asbestos-waste. Approximately 215 windows from the original 1958 construction portion the facility have asbestos-containing interior window glazing compound. The windows are of various sizes, varying from small lower windows in the metal spandrels to the large storefrontstyle windows at the Cafeteria, Lounge, and both the west and east elevations on the southwest wing. The 1958 wing metal frame windows have approximately 3,232 linear feet of approximately 1" interior window glazing compound, total of 268 square feet. 2. Properly remove and dispose of the window system components scheduled for removal on the 1967 east addition with co-mingled asbestos-containing and PCB-containing window glazing compound including removal of all interior and exterior caulk, window framing, sills, interior and exterior trim, glazing, and fasteners/hardware scheduled for removal. Remove all caulk down to and from the adjacent brick facade. Refer to PCB Abatement Specification 028400 1.3 A 1 for additional information. Window systems shall be detached and removed intact and disposed of as PCB-bulk product waste co-mingled with asbestos. The glazing compound was behind interior storm windows installed in 2002 in the Dental Hygiene Clinic. There are approximately 64 windows on the 1967 southeast wing windows. These windows total approximately 1,408 linear feet of 1" interior window glazing compound, totaling approximately 87 square feet. These windows resemble the original 1958 north elevation windows. However the 1967 wing window glazing compound was also determined to contain PCBs above 50 ppm Dispose of all caulk, loose mortar, brick and components with adhering caulk as asbestoswaste. This caulk is limited to application between the metal window frames and the adjacent brick facade. There is a total of 108 metal frame windows are located on the west and east elevations of the southwest wing with approximately 1,350 linear feet of 1" window frame caulk, total of 112 square feet. 4. Properly remove and dispose of the storefront windows in the kitchen lab area Rooms 136 and 134A with interior brown caulk. Remove all caulk down to and from the glazed block walls. Dispose of all caulk, loose mortar, brick and components with adhering caulk as asbestoswaste. There is approximately 40 linear feet of 1/2 " interior perimeter caulk was observed, total 0.2 square feet. 5. Properly remove and dispose of asbestos-containing black tar on structural steel beams above the suspended ceilings as necessary to allow for wall penetrations for new construction. Remove tar from the beams approximately 12" beyond proposed addition/attachment locations. Refer to architectural and structural drawings for precise locations of attachment points. Dispose of removed tar and associated debris as asbestos-waste. A total of approximately 20 square feet of black tar caulk will need to be abated from structural steel beams for new construction B. Work resulting in disturbance of asbestos-containing materials shall be performed by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor employing certified workers in accordance with all applicable standards referenced herein.
