Demolition, site work and asbestos abatement for a residential development in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for the demolition of a residential development; for site work for a residential development; and for asbestos abatement for a residential development.
The project site is located at 1107 Grand Avenue, Ames, IA 50010. The work is to provide the necessary labor, equipment, and materials to remove and properly dispose of asbestos, demolish, and clear the site including designated trees at the property owned by the City. Work to be completed by October 14, 2022. Written questions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on August 12, 2022. Said questions are to be submitted electronically The City of Ames Purchasing Division is the only authorized source of bid documents. Bid documents obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using bid documents not obtained from the City of Ames Purchasing Division on AmesBids are advised to contact to visit amesbids.ionwave.net to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. No bidder may withdraw their bid for at least sixty days after the scheduled closing time for receiving bids. If the accepted bid is over $25,000, the selected Contractor will be required to provide a performance and payment bond equal to the total bid amount. Contractor will include the cost of the performance and payment bond in the bid. BID SECURITY: This section is not required for this bid. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Purchasing Division and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the work for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Citys Risk Manager and shall guarantee faithful performance of the contract and terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee prompt payment of material and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the work in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. The contractor shall not include sales or use taxes in the bid. Pursuant to Iowa Code and Iowa Administrative Code, the contractor will be authorized to purchase building materials that will be incorporated into real property on this project tax-free. By virtue of statutory authority, preference will be given to products and provision grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa, and to Iowa labor, to the extent lawfully required under Iowa statutes. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
