Piccowaxen Middle School, located in the southern portion of the County, opened in 1977 with open space floorplan and is in need of permanent classroom enclosures to improve the learning environment. The project will build permanent walls to create corridors for circulation, permanent walls for classrooms, lighting and switching adjustments, HVAC adjustments, and technology retrofits for classrooms. Project may require asbestos removal or roof replacement to accommodate the project. This will be a phased project that will occur over multiple summers/years. This project is included in the Charles County Fiscal Year 2024–2028 plan. As of February 3, 2026, the construction budget remains allocated to FY 2024, but a substantial completion date has not yet been announced. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
