Conceptual plans call for the construction of a museum; conference / convention center; retail development; for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
DRPT has acquired waterfront property in Popes Creek which included a restaurant building and parking area w/easement adjacent to existing county park property. This property will provide additional parking for the Popes Creek Rail Trail and the Popes Creek Waterfront Park. Plans for the building may include a waterman's heritage museum, crabbing/fishing pier, kayak rentals and concession stand, conference center, retail stalls, and a summer camp venue. This project is included in the city's 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of August 18, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
