Saving Project...

Site work for a civil project in San Rafael, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a development; and water / sewer project.

The Marin City pond serves as the stormwater collection point for all the drainage in the Marin City watershed as well as flows from the Highway 101 interchange. The pond and freeway drainage has flooded the southbound lanes of Highway 101 as well as the single roadway into and out of Marin City during several storm events, most recently in 2021 resulting in a loss of emergency access during these larger storm events. This project will increase the flood conveyance from the pond by installing a pump station and floodwall from the pond trhrough the exisitng culvert to the Bay in conjunction with other improvements including a floodwall, new sotrmdrain pipe from Donahue, installation of flap gates and other pipe improvements. These elements were identified as critical baseline improvmenets in the Flood Study conducted by the District with a partial TAM grant in 2018. The District has applied for a new scope and budget under our FEMA grant and is currently working with CalOES and FEMA staff to increase the budget to approximately $12M up from our current budget of $4M. As of July 5, 2024, this project is in the design phase. Permitting for the project has not started as of yet. A firm timeline for bidding and construction have not been established. Project is included in the Marin County's FY 2022-2027 CIP. As of September 7, 2022, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available. Funding is anticipated in 2022/2023.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
