Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and water / sewer project.
Rhode Island Contract No. 2022-CB-050 is for the Replacement of the Kings Factory Road Bridge No. 542 on the Charlestown-Richmond town line. The new superstructure will include modular units comprised of steel beams with a plant cast conc. deck, cast-in-place deck closure pours, cast-in-place copings, asphaltic wearing surface, and steel bridge rail. The new substructure will include precast conc. abutment, walls, and approach slabs, as well as cast-in-place copings and end posts, all supported on drilled micropiles. The approach roadway will be reconstructed using gravel borrow subbase and asphaltic pavement; new steel beam guardrail with end treatments will be included at all four corners. The work will also include, but not be limited to, the demolition of the existing bridge superstructure, demolition of portions of the existing substructures, control of water, approach drainage, riprap slopes, maintenance and protection of traffic, pavement markings, and erosion controls.
