Site work for a water / sewer project in Brattleboro, Vermont. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Replacement of a section of 8-inch sewer line on Walnut St The Town envisions this project to be collaboration between a contractor who is experienced with utility construction on steep slopes and is familiar with work around railroad tracks. The work consists of ensuring compliance with all permitting and regulations and the installation of the pipe. The completion date on this project is November 18, 2022. Questions regarding this project should be addressed to Daniel Tyler, Director of Public Works, 211 Fairground Road, Brattleboro, VT 05301. The cost of preparing, submitting, and presenting a proposal is the sole expense of the proposer. The Town reserves the right to reject all proposals received as a result of this solicitation, to negotiate with any qualified source, to waive any formality and any technicalities, or to cancel in part or in its entirety this request for proposals if it is in the best interests of the Town. This solicitation of proposals in no way obligates the Town to award a contract. Project Description The Department of Public works is seeking to replace an 8-inch clay tile sewer line, which collects waste from Walnut St. and the Terrace and Tyler St. neighborhoods, before running down a steep embankment, at the east end of Walnut St., and connects with the Connecticut River Interceptor at a manhole. There is not currently a manhole where the Terrace and Walnut St. lines connect. The location of the current line is in close proximity to drain lines and utility poles. The proposed location of replacement is slightly to the north. The new line will have a manhole at the Terrace and Walnut St. junction. Realignment of the Walnut St. and Terrace St. sewer lines may be necessary to facilitate the manhole installation. The Connecticut River Interceptor runs along the railroad tracks. Access must be permitted by the railroad and controlled by rail flaggers. Scope of Work The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, and such other facilities to perform all work necessary to conduct the proposed installation. Work shall include but not be limited to: traffic control, maintaining flow to all users, verification of all exiting depths and locations, removal of necessary asphalt, excavation, providing and installing pipe and manhole, restoration and stabilization of slopes.
