Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Akron, Ohio. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

This report presents the results of the geotechnical evaluation performed by SME for the University of Akron's Buchtel Commons in Akron, Ohio. We performed this evaluation in accordance with the scope of services outlined in SME Proposal No. P01698.24, dated April 30, 2024. Our services for this evaluation were authorized by Mr. Kevin Coon with Osborn Engineering. SME was provided the following information which we used in the evaluation and in the preparation of this report: A PDF of a drawing of the proposed improvements (undated) provided by Osborn Engineering, which shows the existing site overlain with a layout of the planned pavements and sidewalks with requested boring locations. An updated site and grading plan dated July 25, 2024, which included a site layout for the planned pavements and proposed grade elevations The project site is located at the University of Akron's Buchtel Commons in Akron, Ohio. The site currently consists of brick paved walkways and drives with landscaped areas throughout the project extents. Ground surface elevations on the site appear to increase in about 60 feet from Wolf Ledges Parkway to East Buchtel Avenue. Image 1 shows the most recent aerial photograph available from NearMaps. The project will consist of constructing paved drives and walkways surfaced with concrete pavements. The primary proposed drive crossing through the Buchtel Commons corridor will serve as a fire and emergency access drive and service drive for deliveries, dumpster service, and maintenance access. Concrete surfaced sidewalks are planned to branch off the main corridor. Based on the current gradingplan, we expect relatively minor earthwork (cuts and fills of 2 feet or less) will be required to achieve final subgrade levels for the proposed pavements. Substantial Completion of all Work see M310-11- Construction-Progress-Schedule.docx for the 4 milestone dates - 550 days August 14, 2026 The Contracting Authority reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids The A/E shall respond to RFIs received more than 7 days before the bid opening.
